Fixing AirDrop Connectivity Issues Between Macs

Issue Description 

AirDrop fails to discover other Macs or file transfers do not start or complete. 

Common Causes 

  • Incorrect AirDrop visibility settings 
  • Wi-Fi or Bluetooth disabled 
  • Firewall blocking connections 

Step-by-Step Solution 

Step 1: Enable Required Services 

  • Open Control Center 
  • Turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ON 

 

Step 2: Set AirDrop Visibility 

  • Open Finder → AirDrop 
  • Set Allow me to be discovered by → Everyone (temporarily) 

 

Step 3: Disable Firewall Temporarily 

  • System Settings → Network → Firewall 
  • Turn firewall OFF briefly to test 

 

Step 4: Restart Both Macs 

  • Retry AirDrop transfer
