Fixing Wi-Fi Connection Drops or Network Issues

Issue Description 

Mac fails to connect or keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi networks. 

Common Causes 

  • Corrupt network preferences 
  • Router incompatibility 
  • macOS bugs 

Step-by-Step Solution 

Step 1: Restart Wi-Fi Interface 

  • Toggle Wi-Fi OFF/ON 
  • Restart router 

 

Step 2: Forget and Rejoin Network 

  • System Settings → Wi-Fi 
  • Click network → Forget 
  • Rejoin and enter password 

 

Step 3: Renew DHCP Lease 

  • Wi-Fi → Details → TCP/IP 
  • Click Renew DHCP Lease 

 

Step 4: Reset Network Settings 

  • Delete Wi-Fi plist files from: 

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
