How to Fix Wi-Fi That Keeps Disconnecting on Windows

Issue Description 

Wi-Fi may connect and disconnect repeatedly, causing dropped calls, slow browsing, or loss of internet access. 

Common Causes 

  • Power management turning off the adapter 
  • Outdated or unstable Wi-Fi drivers 
  • Router channel interference 
  • Corrupted network configuration 

Step-by-Step Solution 

Step 1: Disable Power Saving for Wi-Fi 

  • Right-click Start → Device Manager 
  • Expand Network adapters 
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Properties 
  • Go to Power Management 
  • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device 
  • Click OK 

 

Step 2: Update Wi-Fi Driver 

  • In Device Manager → Network adapters 
  • Right-click Wi-Fi adapter → Update driver 
  • Select Search automatically for drivers 
  • Restart after update 

 If the issue started after a driver update, choose Roll Back Driver instead 

 

Step 3: Reset Network Settings 

  • Open Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings 
  • Click Network reset 
  • Select Reset now 
  • Restart when prompted 

 

Step 4: Change Router Wi-Fi Channel 

  • Log in to your router’s admin page 
  • Change channel to 1, 6, or 11 (2.4 GHz) 
  • Save and restart router
