How to Use Group Policy Editor to Manage Windows Settings

Group Policy Editor allows centralized control of Windows behavior but must be used carefully.

Step-by-Step Solution 

Step 1: Open Group Policy Editor 

  • Press Windows + R → gpedit.msc 

 

Step 2: Navigate to Policy Category 

  • Use: 
  • Computer Configuration for system-wide rules 
  • User Configuration for user-specific rules 

 

Step 3: Modify a Policy 

  • Double-click the policy 
  • Choose Enabled or Disabled 
  • Click Apply → OK 

 

Step 4: Apply Changes 

  • Restart PC or run: 

gpupdate /force
